Pataleban Vineyard Winery

About Us

Pataleban Vineyard Winery is Nepal’s first and the only commercial vineyard winery. Located west of Kathmandu Valley, the winery boasts three stunning vineyards at various locations, spreading across about twenty acres of land and at the varying altitude of 750 meters to 1600 meters above sea level. We grow over 20 different varieties of European and Japanese grapes, from which small batches of hand-crafted wines are manufactured, reflecting the unique soils and sunshine of each vineyard. The farm further implements a European system of farming to offer you a “one-of-a-kind” wine experience.

The Vineyard

Pataleban

The Pataleban Vineyard was developed on the premises of Pataleban Resort in 2007. The site lies 16 km. west of Kathmandu city and is at an altitude of 1600m. above sea level. It covers an area of 1 hector of land facing south and west at ChisapaniVilage, Baadbhanjyang VDC. 5, Kathmandu, Nepal. We are growing Japanese and American table grapes along with some European wine grapes. The root stocks were imported from Japan. We also applied the training system as well as the Japanese and European systems. We used to sell table grapes at the resort, organizing events for grape picking in the harvesting season July/August.

Kaule

The Kaule Vineyard is our second project for Pataleban Vineyard Winery, established in 2011.  The site is on top of a hill, and lies 35 km. west of Kathmandu city at an altitude of 1400m. above sea level.    The area is 2 hectors north-east, south and south-west facing lands at Thakre Village, Kaule 8, Dhading, Nepal.  There we are growing Japanese and European wine grapes.
